On 1st February 2010, the Government announced new standard generation Feed-in Tariffs (FiT) rates due to start on 1st April 2010, which are guaranteed for 25 years. This new tariff scheme, results in a shorter payback for Solar PV systems, making them an extremely attractive, green option for any home.

Domestic FIT installations are likely to have their export deemed (estimated) at 50% in most cases until smart meters are rolled out.
As an example, a typical domestic solar electricity system, with an installation size of 4.0 kWp could earn around:
This gives a total saving of around £944* per year. This assumes 50% of the electricity generated is exported. The figure will vary depending on how much is exported and the price you pay for it.

A Solar Thermal Installation will also offer a similar FiT pay payback tariff from April 2011. Details will be posted at a later date. You may also be able to claim a further grant or subsidy through your local council which vary. For more information contact your local council.
